Auricular (Ear) Acupuncture
Auricular acupuncture is a technique that has roots in Chinese Medicine, but was more recently rediscovered and greatly expanded by Paul Nogier in France in the 1950s. It uses the ear as a microsystem, a representation of the body, similar to the principles of reflexology. The technique can be used to treat different parts of the body by stimulating the corresponding point in the ear. At Eastern Spirit, we often use the ear for NADA treatment or for ear seeds.
NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association)
The NADA protocol is a sequence of five points in the ears to promote rebalance and calm. This sequence helps promote smooth movement of Qi in the body with minimal intervention and can be deeply relaxing.

Ear Seeds
Ear seeds are vaccaria seeds stuck on a piece of adhesive tape that you can put on the ear and stimulate with pressure for a similar affect to acupuncture. They are often administered to assist the effect of the acupuncture session, as the ear seeds can be comfortably worn for several days. By simply pressing the seed, it can re-stimulate the area and help extend the effect of acupuncture. They can also be used by themselves to help reduce pain or to promote relaxation.
