Community Acupuncture in Our Riverview Location
What is community acupuncture?
A community-based acupuncture model that offers treatment in a comfortable group setting. We can treat multiple clients per hour in a single, larger room, each with their own reclining chair. The goal of community acupuncture is to increase client access to acupuncture by offering affordable pricing on a sliding scale - the client pays what they can afford between $20-$40 (Extra $10 for the first visit).
Who can benefit?
In short, everyone! The group setting does not reduce the effectiveness of your acupuncture treatment. We can treat a variety of conditions and ailments by using acupuncture points on your arms, legs and head.
In acupuncture, the frequency of treatments is an important component of the therapy's effectiveness - it is rare to completely treat a condition in a single session. As well, regular treatments initially makes acupuncture more effective. Community acupuncture makes it easy and affordable to receive frequent and adequately spaced treatments to rapidly treat a condition.
What to expect
There will be a short intake interview on your fist visit to assess what needs to be treated and determine the course of treatment (number of treatments, frequency, etc). After, you will be directed to one of our community acupuncture rooms to relax comfortably on one of our zero-gravity reclining chairs. The needles will be inserted, and you will be able to close your eyes and relax. Treatments are generally about one hour long. It's a good idea to dress in loose-fitting clothes that can be pulled up over the knees and elbows.
