Facial Rejuvenation
Cosmetic Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years in China. As early as the Sung Dynasty (960AD-1270AD), acupuncture rejuvenation practices were employed for the Empress and the Emperor’s concubines. Chinese Medicine considers the face is the “flower” of the spirit. How we are able to express who we are is very quickly seen in the face. The benefit of an acupuncture approach is that the external beauty we want is available with minimal risk, with the added “inner” beauty that will really reflect our true selves.
Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture uses hair-thin acupuncture needles on the face, neck, hands and feet to stimulate the skin, muscles, lymph drainage, and collagen production. This can reduce wrinkles, puffiness, acne, and several other conditions. A course of Facial Rejuvenation can reduce 5-10 years off the face, and results can be minimally maintained to last for years. Used in combination with principles of Chinese Medicine, Facial Rejuvenation can treat the signs of aging as well as the internal factors that contribute to it.

What is the course of treatment?
The course of treatment is between 12-15 sessions, with 1-3 sessions per week for best results. Each individual will respond differently to the treatment depending on his or her condition and lifestyle. Visible results that are more long-lasting appear typically on or about the seventh session. Following the initial course of treatment, maintenance sessions can prolong the results for five to ten years. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture versus surgical face-lift or Botox While not a replacement for surgery, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is an excellent alternative. It is far less costly than cosmetic surgery and is safe, virtually painless, has no side effects or risk of disfigurement (slight bruising can occasionally occur). Unlike surgery that may have an extended recovery period with swelling and discolouration, there is no trauma from Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture. While Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture cannot reshape one’s nose or chin, it is a more subtle rejuvenation that takes years off one’s face safely and naturally while improving overall health. Who should not have Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture? Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is contraindicated for some pituitary disorders, heart disorders, diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure, migraine headaches, and individuals who have a pacemaker, or who have a problem with bleeding or bruising. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture should not be done during pregnancy, during a bout with a cold or flu, during an allergic attack or during an acute herpes outbreak. |
